Validating Module 1 after change in the scheme

Validating Module 1 after change in the scheme

The requirements and material for Getting Started training changed on 15 Sept 2020. This information is for those who had already done part of their Getting Started training under the old scheme when the changes came in.

If you had completed the online module 1 course BEFORE 15 SEPT (it now has different content) AND had NOT yet validated it, here are your options.

OPTION 1

Validate the module under the old scheme. This means working with a Training Advisor to check your understanding. If you are a section leader or assistant section leader you would also need to carry out two tasks to put it into practice. If this is for you, talk to your local training manager or your line manager to link you up with a Training Advisor.

OPTION 2

Complete online assessments of your understanding of both Safety and Safeguarding which is the method for the new scheme. This is 10 questions for each and you would need to send your result to your local training manager, training advisor or line manager.

To do the assessments, click the buttons below and complete the questions. You need 100% correct so click ‘TAKE AGAIN’ if you need to correct any answers. Once you’ve reached 100%, you get the following screen. Note it will say Safety or Safeguarding at the top. Email this screen to your local training manager, training advisor or line manager. You can take a screen snip and copy it into your email, do a print screen and copy it into your email, or take a photo with your phone and email that.

If you are having trouble with the questions and feel your knowledge needs a boost, you can do the online Safety and Safeguarding courses from the buttons below. They end with the same assessment but will produce a certificate which you can send in.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
