Youth Eco-Day – Dorset Scouts Invited to Salisbury Cathedral

Date: 8th Jul 2022 Author: County Office

Calling all Scouts and Explorers between the age of  12 – 16

If you are a Scout or Explorer and care about the environment, how about attending the Youth Eco Day at Salisbury Cathedral as advertised here
Wear your uniform and this will count towards your Scouts Environmental Conservation badge or Explorers Global Issues badge.

We are delighted to offer a unique opportunity for young people to spend a day at Salisbury Cathedral, focusing on the ecological life of the Cathedral and its surrounding areas.

As part of the day young people will take part in the following:

  • Creating and filling an extra-large ‘Bug Cathedral’
  • Exploring Salisbury Cathedral’s work with Peregrine Falcons
  • Going up the Cathedral tower to see the local landscape
  • Consider and contribute to ways that Salisbury Cathedral works to become ‘greener’
  • See our hidden solar panel array

This event leads well into our after school Eco-Club that will be coming in September 2022.

Please email youth@salcath.co.uk to book your place.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
