Dorset Invests their First Red Squirrels

Date: 22nd Feb 2022 Author: County Office

Last week Dorset County was proud to see the first Mass Investiture of our newest members.

Squirrel Scouts was launched in 2021, with Dorset hosting one of the first ever Trial Sections for the new age range of 4-6 years olds.

The trial group was opened back in 2021 at 1st Portland Scout Group, under the original name of Hedgehogs, but as soon as the trials were over, 24th Bournemouth Scout Group was pleased to be the first in Dorset to open as an Official Squirrels Dray in January 2022.

After the first 6 weeks of the section being open, they welcomed the Deputy County Commissioner (Melvin Stroud) and the Assistant County Commissioner for Squirrels (Louise Bradley) as they officially invested 17 young boys and girls in to the section.

Buzzing with pride, all were extremely excited to receive their Neckerchiefs, and first badges, and in the presence of their families also. Just look at these photos and your see what we mean when we say ‘Dorset’s Red Squirrels’.
