DORSET EVENTS – SEPTEMBER 2022 – Changes following the passing of The Queen

Date: 9th Sep 2022 Author: County Office

Following the passing of Her Majesty’ Queen Elizabeth II, some of the planned Dorset Scout Events for September will now be amended as follows.

Please can you provide this information to any parties booked for the events accordingly.

FRIDAY 9th SEPTEMBER – County Celebration of Achievement – Blandford

  • We will continue with the Celebration Evening as scheduled, however an Act of Remembrance for The Queen will now be added to the evening.
  • We ask all members of the Scouting Movement to please come in Best Uniform accordingly for the event.

SATURDAY 10th & SUNDAY 11th SEPTEMBER – County Watersports Weekend – Hengistbury Head

  • The decision has been made to postpone this event until further notice. This is due to 2 factors – 1) The passing of the Queen (Postponed as a Sign of Respect to the Royal Family and at the Request of Multiple Participants) – 2) Ever changing weather conditions.
  • The event will be rescheduled as soon as reasonably possible (Probably in early 2023) and all those who have booked will have their bookings transferred accordingly.
  • Anyone who was booked on to this event will no longer be charge for their place.

SATURDAY 17th & SUNDAY 18th SEPTEMBER – County Activity Weekend – Buddens (Wareham)

  • We will continue with both activity days as scheduled, however an Act of Remembrance for The Queen will now be added to each day.
  • All timings and planned activities remain unchanged.
