Dorset Baden Powell Stone Seeing The World!

Date: 3rd Aug 2017 Author: Scout Websites
Danny and Ian of Christchurch district joined the Iceland Moot, a meeting of over 5000 scouts from 89 countries.

The camping couldn’t have been more iconic and the activities ranged from the sheer fun of roasting marshmallows over charcoal to serious issues such as how can scouting help the world achieve the UN’s sustainable development goals. Danny was part of the Support team and Ian was a participant embracing the Moot’s challenge of ‘change’. One participant said “the moot inspired me to change the way I look at the world” and part of that was meeting everyone.

Ian and Danny started their preparations at Gilwell and took an image of the Brownsea Island’s commemorative stone with them to share the lasting inspiration of Baden Powell with everyone.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
