“Definitely A Challenge…” “We Did It!!”

The feeling of success! Four network scouts from Christchurch district have completed their ten day expedition for their Explorer Belt award. They admitted to “blood, sweat, scars, blisters, tears and not enough cider” and that it was “further than we had thought when you walk it”.

How do you walk from Cherbourg to Le Havre, meeting the locals as you go and completing a number of projects? With all the skills they’ve learnt from scouting such as navigation and lightweight camping but with a big dose of “support, determination and amazing friendship” from each other. Congratulations Bronwyn, Elliott, Flippy and Paul and good luck in your final assessment to achieve the award.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
