Changes to Tiers 30th December 2020 – Impact on Scouting in Dorset

Date: 31st Dec 2020 Author: County Office

Yesterday the Government announced the changes to Tiers for England.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole have now moved to Tier 4 and the rest of Dorset (East Dorset, North Dorset, Dorchester & West, Wareham & IOP and Weymouth & Portland Districts) has moved to Tier 3.

What does this mean for Scouting in Dorset?

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole – readiness level moves to RED (no face-to-face Scouting).

East Dorset, North Dorset, Dorchester & West, Wareham & IOP and Weymouth & Portland Districts – readiness level remains at AMBER.

Adults should not travel from Tier 3 to Tier 4 (or vice versa) to support face to face Scouting.

Groups in Tier 3 that are on the border of a Tier 4 area should consult with their DC/Risk Assessment approvers about whether they should continue with Face to Face Scouting.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
