Young People (4-25 years)

We are the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation. We change lives by offering 6 to 25-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities.

The scouting adventure can start age 4 years and continue for life.

A young person joins a local group subject to their waiting list and joining policies. They then progress through the sections as they reach the appropriate age.

Parents tell us their children benefit hugely from the adventures, fun and friendships they experience. It can help develop your child’s social skills and independence, and give them access to some amazing and memorable opportunities.

Scouting is a Membership organisation so subs are payable and there is usually additional costs for camps and extra adventures. If you’re concerned about the cost, do speak to the leader in confidence; there may be assistance available.

Here’s some extra information if these things are on your mind:

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
