Getting Started Training

Getting Started Training

Welcome!

The information here is largely the same as on the Learners Hub. The difference is that the modules are listed dependant on the role they relate to. This can help you as you work out, or confirm, what you need to do. Remember, these are bite-sized pieces of learning and there’s support for you if you have questions or problems.

The certificates need to be sent to either your Local Training Manager or your line manager.

All volunteers taking on a role, are asked to do the ‘Getting Started 4’;

This covers the introductory information in bite-sized modules. Each module ends with questions and leads to a certificate which needs to be shown or emailed to your Local Training Manager, line manager or training advisor if you already have one assigned.

There are additional modules required for some volunteers in specific roles. Please check below.

If you have taken on a role in your Trustee Board team;

Officer, committee member or ex-officio member;  you should also complete this module. Send your certificate as above.

If you have taken on a role in a youth section;

Section Leader, Assistant Section Leader or Section Assistant; you should also complete this module. Send your certificate as above.

If you have taken on a manager role;

Group Scout Leader, Commissioner, SAS Manager, Training Manager, and all deputies, you should also complete this module. Send your certificate as above.

If you have taken on a role that requires further training for a Wood Badge;

Section Leader, Assistant Section Leader, Group Scout Leader, Commissioners, SAS Manager, Training Manager, and all Deputies; you should also complete module 2 which is about coming up with a personalised learning plan for you to work towards over the next couple of years. This is normally done one-to-one with a training advisor who will continue to support you. If you have yet to be put in touch with your training advisor, please ask your line manager about it or email your local training manager.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
