Get Involved

Why do adults get involved? Some do it to support their children’s journey in Scouts. Some do it because they themselves had been a scout or guide and want to carry on or give back. Some do it for new friends and new challenges. Some do it to support their community. All have a sense of adventure, not necessarily to climb a mountain, but a willingness to try new things and do their best.

There are adults from all walks of life, all abilities, all ages and backgrounds. All give what they can, when they can. All share their skills and gain new ones.

All our adults, almost 2000 of them across Dorset, started somewhere, however small. An hour helping at camp, part of a team running a hike, shopping for a new padlock for the gate, baking cakes for fund-raising. Whatever the beginning, they each found what they could get involved in and enjoy.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
