First Aid external qualifications

First Aid external qualifications

It is not mandatory that you do your first aid training required for your role with Dorset Scouts Adult Training. You may have already attended any one of these courses:

  • Emergency First Aid at Work
  • First Aid at Work
  • Any accredited first aid course of at least 6 hours duration eg. Paediatric First Aid and Outdoor First Aid
  • Scouting Emergency Aid level 4 (when 16 years or older)

If it was within the last 3 years, please send a copy of the certificate (a photo on your phone is fine) to We will check the syllabus you did and compare it to The Scout Association requirements. Most external courses will have covered at least 90%. If there any items you did not cover, we will NOT ask you to do another course but will support you to do a top-up. For most people, they will go online and complete a little self-study. You will be contacted with full details and helped through it as required.

Once this has been done, your record will be updated with the date of your certificate or the date you completed the scouting badge.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
