Skills for Life

Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers. Every week we give almost 8500 4-25 year olds the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.

Welcome to Dorset County Scouts

It all began during the first nine days of August 1907 on Brownsea Island, Dorset. Lord Baden-Powell held an experimental camp to try out his ideas and brought together 20 boys from a variety of backgrounds.

We are proud to be part of the County that Scouting was born in and today Dorset Scouts offers fun, challenge and adventure to over 8,000 boys and girls aged between 4 and 25.

We enable young people from every background to reach their full potential through the unique experience of Scouting. They get the chance to enjoy new activities, make friends, develop skills, and make a positive impact in their communities.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
